The possibilities for application have been discussed during an information day

Today, the first of a series of information days under Operational Programme Administrative Capacity took place in Sofia. During it the Managing Authority (MA) acquainted 140 representatives of local government administrations both with the possibilities for application this year and with the most frequent problems in project management, including the errors made in the organization of public procurement. The training needs of the employees of those administrations were discussed during the event in line with which to plan adequately the relevant procedures under OPAC.

From 260 municipalities 80 have already successfully applied under OPAC according to MA's information. At the moment two procedures are opened; one of which is targeted at municipal administrations. Under it, until 17 April, they can apply by project proposals for streamlining municipal administration structures to achieve higher effectiveness and avoid overlapping of functions. The procedure is under Priority Axis І "Good Governance" and the total amount of the grant is BGN 5 million, while the minimum project amount is BGN 50,000 and the maximum - BGN 200,000. Projects must be implemented within 18 months.

The other procedures provided for in the 2012 Indicative Annual Working Programme are both for central and local government administrations and for the judiciary. The MA of OPAC plans to announce most of the project competitions right at the beginning of the year. Thus an evaluation could be made about the progress of the Programme and if required - an update to be made to the 2012 working plan as per the needs of the beneficiaries. It would be possible to finance projects aimed at improving administrative services, human resource development and electronic services introduction. The overall budget to be contracted this year amounts to BGN 43 million under 9 planned procedures.
