The Economic activity indicator in Bulgaria (EAI) is estimated to turn into positive territory in the second quarter of 2021, benefitting from the improvement in its cyclical position. The largest positive influence on EAI performance came from the industrial sector variables, external environment and sentiment indicators’ assessments.

A new version of the EAI has been released in 2/2021, which incorporates some revisions to the database. The historical series of the composite indicator are recalculated according to the methodology starting from 2001 onwards.
