"Thank you for the privilege to be among you today at this school that has had great contribution to my building. One should never forget where they started and what they have received along the road they have followed and should always owe gratitude to the people that have built them as personalities - our parents and our teachers. I have reached to the position of Finance Minister thanks to the fact that I started from this high school". This is what Minister of Finance Petar Chobanov said at the opening of the new school year at the Atanas Radev Mathematics High School in his home town of Yambol. "I have never forgot my high school and my town and I will bear them in my heart", Minister Chobanov added in his emotional address and said he was sure that he would meet with some of the current pupils of the high school at the University of National and World Economy where he taught.

"As to the budget for education, it would be definitely a priority but being a priority does not mean more funds allocated because more funds do not make a certain direction a priority. The policies, the ideas and the programmes to be funded must make it a priority and that is why the role of the Ministry of Education and Science with their ideas and vision about the sector is very important here". This is what Minister Chobanov said earlier in the day after opening the school year at the University of National and World Economy. He specified that "the 2014 budget will be the first budget of this government where we will show what policies we will follow and I rely on the ministers to outline their objectives explicitly". Mr. Petar Chobanov called on the ministers to make everything possible to optimize their expenditure in order to provide financing for the new policies.
