More than 250 representatives of municipalities took part in the information campaign of Operational Programme Administrative Capacity (OPAC) for the two new procedures for municipalities. OPAC grants BGN 2.5 million for the introduction of effective mechanisms to monitor and control municipal policies implementation. However, if there is great number of good quality projects the budget would be increased. Municipal administrations can apply with projects amounting of between BGN 20,000 and BGN 80,000. The projects approved must be implemented within nine months. The deadline for application is 10.04.2013, 17:30 H.

\"The present scheme can finance municipal development plans, but the procedure of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works should be taken in mind under which integrated urban recovery and development plans are to be financed. Therefore, attention should be paid in respect of overlapping of activities or double financing\", the Head of OPAC Monika Dimitrova-Beecher said. She added that by the end of the year another change to the Indicative Annual Working Programme was expected so as to meet all the needs of OPAC beneficiaries.

As of the moment 79% of the overall Programme budget has been contracted and 41% has been paid.
