OVER 60 MUNICIPALITIES SUBMIT PROJECTS FOR IMPROVING THE SERVICES TO CITIZENS AND BUSINESS

18.04.2012

\"OPAK\"

62 municipalities have submitted projects for restructuring and improving the services to the citizens and the business under sub-priority 1.1 "Effective Structure of the State Administration" of Operational Programme Administrative Capacity (OPAC). The financing which may be granted to the local authorities varies between BGN 50,000 and 200,000, while the funds earmarked under sub-priority 1.1 amount to BGN 5 million. In case of a greater number of approved projects it is possible for this limit to be increased. There was huge interest from the representatives of the municipalities, with almost 200 representatives of municipal administrations taking part in the information days conducted in Sofia, Plovdiv, Burgas, Varna, Lovech and Vratsa in March.

OPAC will be financing activities for construction of information and communication systems, for elaboration and introduction of new modules to existing information systems, for development of analyses and programmes for development of spatial infrastructure under sub-priority 3.2 "Standard Information and Communication Environment and Interoperability". 17 central administrations have applied under this priority. The overall budget is BGN 7 million and the projects must exceed BGN 100,000.

These are the first procedures under both sub-priorities for municipalities and central administrations since launching Operational Programme Administrative Capacity in 2007. Financing these projects, OPAC will support the local administration reform and will speed up the process of e-government establishment in the country.
