The Republic of Bulgaria has joined the international initiatives of the Organisation for Economic Economic Co-operation and Development on tackling tax evasion through an automatic exchange of information for tax purposes, i.e. the Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters, the Multilateral Agreement between the Competent Authorities on the Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information and the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information.

On the one hand, joining the initiatives on transparency and exchange of information ensures the participation of the Republic of Bulgaria in the global automatic exchange of information for tax purposes, while on the other hand it improves our country's reputation of a state that respects and applies high tax transparency standards and of being a reliable partner that supports the international efforts to tackle cross-border tax evasion, avoidance and fraud.
