"The Bulgarian society knows very well that the state is behind the banks with all the resources available. The approved by the European Commission State aid provides the possibility to ensure immediate liquidity to the attacked bank if necessary", Minister of Finance Petar Chobanov stated in an interview for CNBC. "People understand that this is a criminal attack and has nothing to do with the fundamental situation in the system", Petar Chobanov is convinced.

The Finance Minister shrugged off fears of another attack on the banks, the successful placement of the last foreign debt issue on the international capital markets giving grounds for that. "The good price of the bond, the very low yield, the spread to the midswap and to the German Bunds show that the international investor community has confidence in Bulgaria", he commented. Minister Chobanov further said that in his conversations with the investors it became clear that the market had appreciated the recent situation as "noise". According to him the strong macroeconomics and fiscal fundamentals are also very important for the investors and they will continue to come to Bulgaria.
