Minister of Finance Petar Chobanov will participate in a meeting of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) to be held in Brussels on 8 July 2014. At the meeting the Italian Presidency Work Programme for the second half of 2014 will be presented.

On the basis of the amendments to the Savings Taxation Directive it is expected the European Commission to reach an agreement with Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco and San Marino on upgrading their agreements with the EU of 2004 on the taxation of savings income. The aim is to ensure that the five countries continue to apply measures that are equivalent to those laid down in the EU's directive on the exchange of information on savings incomes. The EC should also inform the EU Finance Ministers about the steps taken in the negotiations with the five states and about the agreements reached so far.

A Review of the EU2020 Strategy is also on the agenda of the meeting.
