Today, the Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova and the BNB Governor Dimitar Radev signed a joint letter requesting the preparation of extraordinary convergence reports and sent it to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde.

The letter was prepared and sent in accordance with the Decision of the National Assembly of 26 July 2024 to accelerate and complete the process of preparation for the adoption of the euro in the Republic of Bulgaria, in accordance with Article 140 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, as well as in accordance with Decision No 92 of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria of 24 February 2025 to request the European Commission and the European Central Bank to prepare extraordinary convergence reports on the Republic of Bulgaria.
