Deputy Prime Minister for EU Funds and Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev had a meeting with the Ambassador of Italy to Bulgaria H.E. Giuseppina Zarra.

They outlined the common European priorities and actions that needed to address the consequences from the war in Ukraine. Special attention was paid to the need for devising plans and taking urgent measures to find alternative gas routes and supplies for Europe.

They also discussed the possibilities for urging investment and economy provided by the Recovery and Resilience Plan. Minister Vassilev said that the procurement arrangements for the key projects of the Plan would rely on the expertise of the European Reconstruction and Development Bank so as to avoid any possibilities for corruption. 

Minister Vassilev and Ambassador Zarra agreed that there were huge prospects for commercial and economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Italy in the field of energy, infrastructure, agriculture, tourism and cosmetics.
