“The experience of the Ministry of Finance of the Netherlands in developing and implementing anti-inflationary economic policies is of utmost importance to us, especially in the context of Bulgaria’s priority to join the euro area from 1 January 2024”, Finance Minister Rositza Velkova said at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Technical Cooperation between the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Ministry of Finance of the Netherlands, held today in Brussels.

Minister Rositza Velkova expressed her confidence that the signing of the Memorandum would continue the useful cooperation between the two Ministries, as well as the exchange of information on the policies, legislation, infrastructure and services in the areas of responsibilities of the two institutions.

The activities under this Memorandum will be included in annual Bilateral Cooperation Programmes. For 2023, the main topics include Bulgaria’s accession to the euro area, the Recovery and Resilience Facility, financial literacy, etc.

Minister Velkova expressed her gratitude for the successful cooperation so far in the context of the Memorandum which dates back to 2017 and is valid until 31.12.2022. As a result of the annual Bilateral Cooperation Programmes, experts from the Ministry of Finance and its subordinate agencies were able to obtain specific technical support through the exchange of knowledge and experience, study visits and online meetings in the areas of budget, tax and customs issues, public-private partnership, financial markets and other related topics.
