The Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev met with the Ambassador of Japan to Bulgaria H.E. Mr. Michigami Hisashi. They discussed the opportunities for expanding commercial and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Minister Vassilev noted that our country had several large-scale projects for construction and reconstruction of road and railway infrastructure and assured that Japanese companies were welcome to participate in construction. He recalled that Bulgaria and Japan had traditionally good cooperation in the hydropower sector and expressed his hope that it would continue. According to the Minister, there were also opportunities for Japanese companies to participate in the construction of new nuclear capacities in Bulgaria. He informed the Ambassador that with amendments to the Investment Promotion Act Bulgaria would provide government support for companies that wanted to make capital investments in our country in the maximum amount allowed by the European Union.

The Ambassador of Japan highlighted the good cooperation between the two countries in the field of science and expressed his hope that it would continue. According to him, there was a great opportunity for increasing investment activity between the two countries, and in order for this to happen, it would be necessary to intensify the presentation of our country to the Japanese businesses.
