The Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov had a meeting with the Chair of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs of the European Parliament Roberto Gualtieri. They discussed the priorities of the Bulgarian Presidency and the economic situation in the EU. They also discussed the topic of Bulgaria's future membership in ERM II and subsequently in the euro area. In this regard, Roberto Gualtieri vowed his support for Bulgaria's joining the euro area, highlighting that this was the natural path for the country as by virtue of its Accession Agreement, it should become a member of the euro area and was in practice part of the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU).
