SOFTWARE OF THE CUSTOMS AGENCY AND THE NATIONAL REVENUE AGENCY MONITORS FOR FUEL FRAUD ATTEMPTS
11.09.2014
From today fuel fraud attempts will be automatically detected in real time and at the same time by the information systems of the Customs Agency and the National Revenue Agency. The fuel control system has been implemented this year to monitor the movement of all fuels manufactured in the country or imported therein, as well as the quantities sold at the gas stations. The information system ensures that each delivery to the gas stations in the country is accompanied with a valid and checked by the Customs Agency unique control number.
Soon after the system has been implemented, by comparing the information submitted by fuel sellers and buyers the first fraud attempts have been detected. Among the detected by the two agencies violations are deliveries with non-existing unique control number which is an attempt to legalise the sale of contraband fuels. The fraud attempts have been reported to the law enforcement bodies.
Massive joint inspections of the two revenue agencies for compliance with the requirements for trade in fuels are forthcoming.
