POSITION OF THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE

29.01.2015

The Ministry of Finance considers intolerable and unacceptable the actions of the head of the Svilengrad Customs Office Todor Karaivanov which have led to his detention. We unconditionally support all actions taken by the competent bodies and revealing, proving and preventing corruption practices on all levels in the administration and we will continue to be intolerant thereof. The isolated cases like the one in question will not dissuade us from continuing fighting corruption irrespective of the fact who demonstrates it - the state administration or the private sector. What is happening is an evidence of the efforts of the entire state to eradicate the accumulated vices. Prime Minister Boyko Borissov was duly informed about the development and time period of execution.

The Ministry of Finance will continue working towards improving revenue collection. According to preliminary data, the results from the work of the revenue agencies show collection improvement in January 2015 compared to January last year. This is an indicator that the agencies are working in the right direction.
