PETAR CHOBANOV: BETTER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT LIES AHEAD

09.02.2014

\"A finance minister is supposed to manage the state\'s money according to the rules and if this money is managed well, if targeted at people and business in such a way as to make the economy go well, then the continual problem of lacking money for every minister seems manageable\". This is what Minister of Finance Petar Chobanov says in an interview for TV7. He says there is money in the budget for the policies pursued by the Government. \"This budget demonstrates a normal fiscal and long-term strategy aimed at deficit decrease\", the Finance Minister adds. He explains that the deficit decrease comes in a normal way as the actions of the Government are aimed at having a well-developing economy, and a higher economic growth will allow for shrinking the deficit without impeding the economic development.

\"We have done what is required for the business to feel the state as a trustworthy partner, to ensure the requisite liquidity, to have a faster circulation of money, which gave good results at the end of last year\", adds Minister Chobanov. In addition, the better communication with the revenue administration, the reduced administrative burden and the improved procedures prove efficient and the business has started considering investment.

Minister Petar Chobanov says it is good news that last year has ended better than expected, the Q3 growth is 1.5% and this has been its highest for the last eight quarters. According to him, better economic development lies ahead. The Finance Minister considers that \"our forecasts for this year are completely balanced and there are even grounds to consider that growth could be even a bit higher\". The best news will be the animation on the labour market in order for people to find their place in society in better way, to feel integrated and to have a developing economy, adds Mr. Chobanov.
