Foreign users show greatest interest in amendments to the Financial Stability Pact

The new visitors of the website of the Ministry of Finance, http://www.minfin.bg/, increased by 30% in 2011 compared to the previous year. The official website of MoF was visited by almost 260 thousand users from 172 countries, as shows the website's functional statistics in the period 1 January-31 December 2011. Users from the United Kingdom, the USA and Belgium accounted for the greatest increase in attendance. Almost 3.4 million pages were visited, or an average 4.6 pages per visit. The average stay of a user was a little over 3 minutes.

Visits to the English version of the website increased by 26.5% last year as compared to the previous one. The site was visited most by foreign users in June when amendments to the Organic Budget Law in relation to the Bulgarian Financial Stability Pact were adopted. They introduced a deficit ceiling of 2% of GDP and an expenditure cap of 40% of GDP.

The number of documents published on the website of the Ministry of Finance totaled 1,519. On each day of 2011, including weekends and holidays, the MoF Press Office published an average 1.15 press releases, with 420 messages having been published in the News section only. The answers of the Minister of Finance within the parliamentary scrutiny were 62, while the interviews of Minister Simeon Djankov and his deputies in printed and electronic media were 38.  20 photo galleries and 26 videos were also published.

A new section, International Financial News, was created in October where 578 pieces of information were published in the months ending 2011. Compared to 2010, 15.6% more documents were published, with the growth of publications in the Tenders section being 147.6 per cent.

The Ministry of Finance thoroughly renewed its official website and improved its functionalities in December 2010.
